Even as a child, I’ve always loved the idea of making things beautiful. I remember, fondly, the times I’d go with my mother to select fabrics and how we’d think about how to turn them into designs we dreamed up. It was such a creative and collaborative process and to be honest, is the essence of who I am and by extension, Verandah.
When you enter someone’s space, every choice they’ve made tells you something about them. I love being able to understand someone’s personality through their style. I took my interests and enthusiasm to Polimoda, Italy and completed my Masters in Fashion Merchandising and Buying. I came back with a deep respect for heritage crafts and craftsmanship. It made me truly appreciate the genius and versatility of traditional Indian art and design.
As much as I love design, I’m also a strong believer of functionality. I’m committed to the idea of purpose-driven creations that play a role in your space. My explorations took me down a path that led to Verandah. We believe that beauty shouldn’t be kept, out of reach, behind glass panes. It should be a part of everyday life.
